New Mumford & Sons album Babel has become 2012's fastest-selling LP so far, shifting over 150,000 units in its first week on sale.
According to exclusive Music Week analysis,the release's first week trumped that of Lana Del Rey and Emeli Sande - the only other two albums to post week-one sales in excess of 100,000 this year.
Del Rey's Born To Die and Sande's Our Version Of Events - both release in February - opened in pole position on sales of 116,745 and 113,319, respectively.
Last week, Mumford & Son's second album Babel sold 158,923 copies, according to Official Charts Company data.
The band's first album, Sigh No More recorded first week sales of 16,728 three years ago to debut at No.11.
