Pearl Jam set new Wembley record

With 12,470 Pearl Jam fans packing the venue in North West London yesterday, compared to the11,673 who attended their last sell-out gig at the arena in 2000, the band set a new house record. The previous house record of 12,337 was held by Jamiroquai for their 2002 show.

The new record was achieved as a result of a £35m refurbishment of Wembley Arena in 2005 which led to an increase in capacity.

Rod MacSween of the concert's promoters ITB says, "It's great to improve on the Wembley Arena house record that we've held for the last seven years with Jamiroquai. Pearl Jam at the Arena was always going to be a fantastic show as this was their only UK date and the added capacity enabled more people to see this great band live."
