Police IP Crime Unit launches

The much-anticipated Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) has launched today - to a welcome response from the music industry.

The unit - which has received £2.56 million in funding over two years from the Intellectual Property Office - is dedicated to tackling intellectual property crime, with a special focus on offences committed online.

Intellectual Property Minister Lord Younger and City of London Police Commissioner Adrian Leppard announced the project in June.
