This year the annual music conference Midem took place in its usual haunt of the Palais des Festivals in France, Cannes where it will return next year.
But, with the sunny weather, Cannes also brings connotations of luxury lifestyles and bottomless expense accounts. Is the location still representative of an industry that is pushing for more support from Government?
Furthermore, attendance was down 7% YoY with the four-day event reporting around 6,400 attendees. Last year’s show reported a rise of some 2% on the previous edition and back in 2001, there were 10,000 delegates.
