Acclaimed producer, songwriter and veteran industry executive Ron Fair is being tipped to take a top role at Virgin Records in the US.
That’s according to Billboard.biz which reports the former Geffen Records and A&M chairman is in the midst of negotiations that may see him become president or chairman of Virgin.
He was most recently hired by Irving Azoff for his Front Line Management company in a consulting capacity and his CV boasts stints at Chrysalis Records, RCA Records, Island Records and EMI Records.
Falling under the Capitol Music Group, following the EMI/Universal acquisition, Virgin now sits alongside Blue Note, Astralwerks, Harvest, Capitol Christian Music Group and Caroline.
Fair has 30 years experience in the industry, predominantly as a record as an A&R executive and record producer having played a key part in the careers of Christina Aguilera, Mary J Blige, Black Eyed Peas and Keyshia Cole, amongst others with his recordings picking up 18 Grammy Awards.
