Sony Music Entertainment strikes deal with Tencent

Sony Music Entertainment has struck a deal with China-based internet firm, Tencent, after Warner signed a similar agreement in November.

Tencent owns messaging service WeChat as well as microblogging network QQ, which has 820 million users. It now has the right to distribute Sony's catalogue through its online channels.

South Korean based label YG Entertainment, known for Psy amongst others, has also agreed a distribution deal.
