SoundCloud and Getty Images in licensing partnership

Music hosting platform SoundCloud has partnered with licensing platform Getty Images, enabling users to offer their tracks for licensing.

The deal sees SoundCloud’s streaming player and widget add a ‘license’ button if the artist of the track opts to make their track available for just that.

There will also be a branded collection of music on both the Getty Images Music and SoundCloud websites.

Getty will pay artists 35% of any licensing revenue gained through the system.

"It's really exciting because it's taking away the complexity with respect to sync licensing," director of Getty Images Music Melinda Lee told Billboard.
