Stargate, aka Tor Hermansen and Mikkel Eriksen, also won song of the year for Ne-Yo's So Sick at the event, which took place at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
The awards honour writer and publisher members of the PRS whose repertory is licensed by Ascap and was among its most performed works in the US during 2006.
Other winners on the night included Bat For Lashes and The View: the former received the Ascap Vanguard Award for her debut album, Fur and Gold; the latter won the Ascap College Award for their debut, Hats Off To The Buskers.
The evening also saw a performance from songwriter Charles Strouse, who played a selection of the songs he has written for Broadway, Hollywood, television, pop and concert music, including Tomorrow and It's The Hard Knock Life from Annie.
"We're very pleased to celebrate the achievements of the writer and publisher members of the PRS whose music is represented by Ascap in the United States," says Ascap senior vice president, international Roger Greenaway, who hosted the night alongside Ascap vice president, membership, Sean Devine.
"I'm especially pleased to salute our songwriter of the year honourees Tor and Mikkel and welcome the legendary Charles Strouse who will be performing for us this evening."
