Simon Cowell has hired the former editor of the Daily Mirror Richard Wallace to work as a consultant on the US version of the The X Factor.
Wallace, who left the tabloid in May, is thought to have been offered a contract until Christmas, with the possibility of more work on sister show America's Got Talent, according to a report in the Guardian.
Earlier this week, Rupert Murdoch's Fox channel renewed The X Factor US for a third season.
