Universal appoints new e-commerce boss

Universal Music’s David Hawkes has been promoted to a new position that will see him lead the company’s direct to consumer activity alongside his duties as commercial director at Island Records.

As head of e-commerce for Universal Music UK, reporting to chairman and CEO David Joseph, Hawkes (pictured) will oversee the central e-commerce team run by Stephen Partridge as well as working closely with the e-commerce representatives at each of the UK labels.
