US album sales hit historic lows over the last five weeks, with SoundScan recording the longest consecutive stretch in its history without scanning more than 5 million units.
Album sales in the US totaled 4.68 million for the week ending July 28 – the lowest weekly total since the formation of Nielsen SoundScan in 1991.
