Warner/Chappell has made three key appointments to its global digital business.
Warner Music Group’s publishing arm has named Ann Sweeney as executive vice president of digital strategy and policy, expanding her role to take on global responsibility.
Based in New York and reporting to Warner/Chappell chairman and CEO Cameron Strang, Sweeney is tasked with driving a cohesive digital licensing strategy, overseeing Warner/Chappell Music’s approach to digital legislation, and collaborating with the company’s affiliates to build partnerships with both established and emerging service providers.
She will also continue to play a leading role in Warner/Chappell's relationships with US performing rights societies and industry organisations such as the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA).
Meanwhile, Stephen Dallas has been appointed vice president of digital legal affairs and business development. He will negotiate and execute digital licensing agreements with third parties as well as explore new business opportunities in the digital ecosystem.
The two appointments come alongside a promotion for London-based Iain Morris to the newly created role of head of digital for Europe.
“Warner/Chappell is a bold and determined digital pioneer,” said Cameron Strang. “We are committed to providing our outstanding songwriters with dynamic, best-in-class services that maximise revenue generating opportunities for their songs.
“Thanks to Ann's extensive experience, outstanding negotiating skills and deep understanding of the industry, she has played a significant role in accelerating the growth of our digital footprint. She and her newly expanded team will help ensure we continue to lead our industry's fast-paced evolution.”
Ann Sweeney said: “As the transformation of the entertainment landscape continues, we are enabling increasingly sophisticated and compelling music services. I look forward to my ongoing work with Cameron and our talented team as we forge innovative new opportunities and build incremental revenues for our extraordinary writers.”
Sweeney added, “Stephen and Iain are experts in their fields and I am thrilled to work with them. Their knowledge, contacts and strategic insight mean we are well positioned to grow our reputation as the world's most nimble and innovative music publisher.”
