What does a music publisher actually do?

Tim Ingham
MPA Music Publishers Association

You hear it from artists, media and even record companies - but now there's no excuse for not understanding the benefits that a music publisher brings to the industry.

Prominent figures in the UK music publishing world including Nigel Elderton (Peer Music), John Truelove (Truelove Music), Becca Gatrell & Caroline Elleray (UMPG), Natasha Baldwin (Imagem), Sarah Osborn (Schott Music) and Jake Gosling (songwriter/producer) have contributed to a new series of tutorial videos on the subject, which you can watch below.

The videos have been created by the MPA (Music Publishers Association) - and the trade body's chief exec Stephen Navin and chairman Chris Butler are both involved.

Whether you work directly in the music business or not, they're worth a watch; covering all aspects of publishing from syncronisation to royalty collection and sheet music.
