A court in Germany has upheld a ruling which states that sites like YouTube are only accountable for blocking videos that infringe copyright if those videos have been brought to the attention of the service.
The court has however insisted that YouTube needs to do more to avoid the uploading of infringing content.
GEMA originally filed a lawsuit which resulted in a ruling holding YouTube liable for user-uploaded copyright-infringing music after it had been informed of the infringement.
