YouTube fashion and beauty star Michelle Phan has counter-sued Ultra Records, following a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by the label in July.

Phan, whose make-up tutorials have nearly seven million subscribers, claims that one of Ultra’s managers gave her permission for her to use songs in order to promote digital sales of the music on Apple’s iTunes.

The counter-suit seeks declaratory judgement that Ultra issued a non-revocable license to the recordings and that her videos do not infringe copyright. Phan is ...
