Julian Cope has signed to Warner Chappell Music.
The iconic British singer-songwriter, poet, author, occultist, photographer and artist has agreed a worldwide partnership with the publisher.
Cope said: “I’m delighted to be back with Warners after decades. It feels like coming home!"
Mike Smith, MD of Warner Chappell Music UK, added: “Julian’s been pushing boundaries for more than 40 years. He’s a true polymath – a songwriter, performer, author and scholar – as well as a political activist for a huge range of essential causes.
“As an artist, he has the vision of William Blake, and as his publisher I’m determined that we can take him into the mainstream. I’m so proud he’s agreed to work with us and look forward to supporting him as he gets his important messages out there.”
Cope launched his career with post-punk band The Teardrop Explodes 40 years ago. Following the split in 1982, he has pursued a solo career and branched out fiction, autobiography and lectures.
