US digital sales up 2% in volume and 12% in value but subscription slumps

A total of 1.16bn tracks were sold last year, up from 1.13bn in 2009. The value of the single-track market grew from $1.22bn (?0.73bn) to $1.36bn (?0.82bn) in the period.

Digital album sales grew 8.8% in unit terms (to 83.1m units) and 8.6% in value (to $828.8m (?496.7m)) between 2009 and 2010.

Against these rises, however, both subscription and mobile revenues were down.
