The news comes after PRS for Music this month agreed a similar deal in the UK.
GEMA has famously so far failed to reach an agreement with Spotify - which explains why the service is still not available in the territory.
In a <a href="https://www.gema.de/presse/aktuelle-pressemitteilungen/presse-details/article/itunes-match-in-deutschland-gema-schliesst-vereinbarung-mit-apple.html">company statement</a> GEMA called its deal with iTunes an "experimental agreement".
The deal will initially last 12 months and then be readjusted depending on the contract potential.
