Date set for Indy awards
Monday March 19, 2007
The Indy Music Awards, which aim to recognise and reward independent venues, promoters and artists, will take place at London’s Clapham Grand on May 15.
The new awards scheme will recognise and reward independent venues, promoters and artists.
Categories include best independent venue, fan of the year and artist award categories spanning over six different music genres.
Indy Music Awards CEO Jeremy Glover says. "If ever an industry needed an awards scheme surely it is at the grassroots level where you can forget about any significant financial rewards.
"There are a lot of people involved at the early stages of an artist’s development, many of whom, like the artists themselves, do it for the love of music. The Indy Music Awards is about empowering these passionate stakeholders".
Sixty independent venues and promoters in London have nominated over 200 bands, while thousands of fans have cast votes via the awards’ website, www.indyawards.co.uk.
The event will be hosted by Virgin Radio’s Greg Burns.
