Camden Underworld named most popular venue

The Camden Underworld was named most popular venue at the inaugural Indy Music Awards last night.
The Camden venue triumphed against competition from the Clapham Grand - which hosted the awards - Dublin Castle and the Purple Turtle.
The new awards scheme is intended to recognise and reward independent venues, promoters and artists, with categories include best independent venue, fan of the year and artist award categories.
Nominations were gathered from independent venues and promoters in London as well as fans. Presenters on the night included soul singer Omar and former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock.
The winners were:
Best solo act: Joe Driscoll
Best hip hop act: Supar Novar
Best new wave / progressive act: Joanna And The Wolf
Fan of the year: Oli Bloxham
Best alternative act: Suzerain
Best soul / funk act: NuBrown Soul
Best indie act: Marner Brown
Most popular venue: Camden Uniderworld
Best pop rock act The Lightyears
Best punk / ska act: Jag
Best rock act: Red Star Rebels
People’s choice: The Skallywags
