Warner Bros. Records invite fans to share their memories of The Smiths

Warner Bros. Records are releasing a newly-mastered edition of The Smiths’ classic The Queen Is Dead on October 20. In anticipation of this, the label have invited fans to share their memories of each track on the album. Fans can participate via Twitter or Instagram by using the hashtag of their favourite track, such as #FranklyMrShankly.

Morrissey has said of the album: "You cannot continue to record and simply hope that your audience will approve, or that average critics will approve, or that radio will approve. You progress only when you wonder if an abnormally scientific genius would approve – and this is the leap The Smiths took with The Queen Is Dead."

Warner Bros. Records are also sharing a rare live version of each track every week until the album’s release. The title track, recorded at Irvine Meadows, Laguna Hills on August 28 1986, is already available.

Johnny Marr adds: “The Queen Is Dead was epic to make and epic to live.”

The Queen Is Dead will be released on all digital and steaming formats as well as in a Deluxe 3CD/1 DVD box set featuring the 2017 master of the album; additional recordings featuring demos, b-sides, alternative versions and a DVD featuring the 2017 master of album in 96kHz / 24-bit PCM stereo and The Queen Is Dead – A Film By Derek Jarman.
