Adam Crookes on Terror Jr's A-OK (Everything's Perfect)

I first discovered US pop duo Terror Jr two years ago, after rumours began circulating that Kylie Jenner was their lead singer. The rumour was false, and Terror Jr have since become the most mysterious band in pop.

Lots of artists can underestimate the power of great artwork, in a time where viral content can build a fanbase. For Terror Jr, it’s essential. The artwork accompanying their three EPs has been crafted to both intrigue and provoke.

In 2016, the band released their first EP, Bop City. After 3 Strikes was used in a lip gloss commercial starring Jenner, the rumours began to spread, and this ultimately untrue speculation was enough to give Terror Jr the platform to build a global audience. Two years later, the sounds on Bop City and their subsequent releases feel ahead of their time – their peers offer only a glimpse of their boundary-pushing experimental pop.

With fans awaiting news of a debut album, Terror Jr recently released new single A-OK (Everything’s Perfect). With distortion and sudden tempo changes, they’re continuing to make experimental pop music shrouded in mystery. I’m looking forward to what’s next.
