Reservoir signs publishing deal with Ivors Awards winner Orla Gartland

Reservoir Media has signed a new publishing deal with Ivor Novello-winning singer-songwriter Orla Gartland for her future works.

The deal includes her recent work on the original soundtrack for the fifth season of Apple TV’s Trying.

This publishing agreement also expands upon Reservoir’s relationship with Gartland, who has been managed by Claire Kilcourse at Big Life Management, which is part of the Reservoir group of companies, since 2017.

To date, the Dublin-born, London-based Gartland has self-released four EPs and two albums. 2021’s Woman On The Internet reached No.1 on the UK independent albums chart and No.10 on the UK albums chart.

In 2024, Gartland released her sophomore album, Everybody Needs A Hero, which earned her the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for the single Mine.

In addition to these albums, Gartland recently wrote and performed eight original songs for the fifth season of Apple TV’s Trying, following previous Trying soundtrack contributors Guy Garvey, Maisie Peters, Bear's Den and BEKA. The soundtrack, produced by Tom Stafford, featured collaborations with Matt Maltese, Liang Lawrence and Martin Luke Brown.

Separately, Gartland is also a member of the indie-pop supergroup Fizz alongside Dodie, Greta Isaac and Martin Luke Brown, who released a 2023 album, The Secret to Life. Heading into 2027, Gartland is working on new solo music.

Orla Gartland commented on signing with Reservoir: “How lucky am I to be signing with such a stellar team of hard-working, music-loving people?! I feel truly seen by the Reservoir team as an artist and songwriter. The company’s ambitious indie spirit feels very much aligned with my own, so I’m really excited for us to work together over the coming years.”

Charlie Pinder, Reservoir UK head of creative, said: “Orla is one of the most distinctive songwriters and artists working in the UK today, and the Trying soundtrack following her Ivors win is proof of her artistry and range. We're thrilled to be her new publishing home as she moves into this next chapter, and to continue working closely with Claire Kilcourse and the Big Life team to give Orla dedicated support across the board."
