Taylor Swift does chart double with The Life Of A Showgirl expanded edition and Patient Zero

Taylor Swift has secured a UK chart double following the release of the expanded edition of her 12th studio album, The Life Of A Showgirl, to mark its first anniversary.

The lead single from The Life Of A Showgirl: The Encore, Patient Zero went straight in at No.1 in this week's chart with sales of 46,993, according to Official Charts company data. Swift can also claim a UK chart triple with Patient Zero debuting at the summit on Radiomonitor's airplay chart.

The track is one of four new songs written and produced by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback for the release alongside Cleveland (No.3, 25,360 sales), Babylon (No.4, 24,908 sales) and Pink Clouding (23,716 sales), which would have entered at No.6, but was 'starred out' as only three tracks by an artist are eligible to chart.

Patient Zero becomes Swift’s eighth UK No.1 single and her third of 2026, following Opalite and I Knew It, I Knew You. It marks the first time the singer-songwriter has achieved three chart-topping singles in one calendar year in the UK. She is also the only artist to achieve three No.1 singles in the UK chart in 2026 so far. Patient Zero is the seventh of her No.1s to debut at the summit – a record for any solo artist.

Meanwhile, the accompanying album replicates the feat of its predecessor, The Tortured Poets Department, by returning to the top spot exactly one year after it came out.

The Life Of A Showgirl surged 84-1 with total units of 29,591 following the release of The Encore edition to claim its fifth non-consecutive week at the UK albums chart summit. That total comprised 14,708 physical sales, 735 downloads and 14,148 streams. Total UK sales for the LP now stand at 815,618.

Last year, the album amassed first week consumption in the UK of 423,444 units. That total included 194,596 CDs, 125,592 vinyl albums, 2,652 cassettes, 16,535 digital downloads and 84,069 sales-equivalent streams.

Patient Zero also debuted at No.1 on the UK airplay chart and is the fourth UK No.1 airplay since the album's release on October 3, 2025.

Taylor Swift previously secured the Triple No.1 album, single and airplay on the release week of The Life of A Showgirl.

Swift is the most played artist on UK radio in the past 12 months, also spending 20 weeks as airplay No.1 and 38 weeks in the Top 5 during the period.

She currently has Opalite (No.4), The Fate of Ophelia (No.8) and I Knew It, I Knew You (No.9) in the Top 10 most played radio records of 2026 so far.
