Apple Music/iTunes have unveiled its Best Of 2018 lists, with both Drake and The Greatest Showman winning big in the battle for the UK’s top-selling and streamed music.
The Greatest Showman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) was revealed as the Apple Music Top Album of 2018 while Drake's God's Plan was the year's Top Song.The results come hot on the heels of Spotify unveiling its annual Year In Music – which was also dominated by Drake’s Scorpion.
Perhaps the strangest differences between the two platforms is where The Greatest Showman placed. Despite topping Apple Music's charts, the soundtrack – which is currently on 1,398,710 sales according to Official Charts Company data, with 488,260 of them coming from streams – does not appear at all in Spotify's list.
Another big winner across both streaming services was Dua Lipa, who enjoyed the second most played song on both Apple and Spotify with One Kiss, while also being the most streamed female artist in the UK on the latter.
In Apple/iTunes' Best Music Of 2018 (editorial picks) list, Drake was announced as artist o the year, Juice Wrld were named Breakout Artist Of The Year, Song Of The Year went to I Like It by Cardi B featuring Bad Bunny & J. Balvin, and Album Of The Year was awarded to Golden Hour by Music Week cover star Kacey Musgraves
