The Streets to play pay-per-view livestream at Hackney venue

Island Records, in association with Eagle Rock Entertainment and Globe Productions, are to present a pay-per-view livestream concert by The Streets.

It will be livestreamed in HD/4K quality on August 6 from Earth in Hackney. This show will be the first time Mike Skinner and The Streets will have performed live in a club setting in nearly 15 years.

The Streets are playing dates on Live Nation’s Live From The Drive-In tours. The Streets were due to headline a number of festivals across the UK this summer, which have been postponed to 2021.

The Streets are targeting a high chart placing this week with their new mixtape, None Of Us Are Getting Out Of This Life Alive.

Alastair Smith, director of streaming and commerce at Island Records, said: “Island pride themselves on being at the forefront of direct-to-fan initiatives of all kinds and in fact had our first foray into ticketed livestreams back in 2011 with Florence + the Machine’s show at the Hackney Empire. Advances in technology, and of course the desire of our artists to continue to play special livestream shows direct into their fans homes during lockdown, have opened up a lot more opportunities for ticketed livestreams once again. Island have over a decade’s experience in ticketing globally, and pride ourselves on building and nurturing audiences online. Alongside the amazing team at Eagle Rock and Globe Productions, we feel Universal Music UK is better placed than anyone to deliver the complete end to end experience in this space.”

Eagle Rock Entertainment CEO Alice Webb added: “I’m very proud The Streets is the first live pay-per-view event Eagle Rock is bringing to the world – it truly will be an extraordinary event for extraordinary times – with more to follow in the coming weeks. Eagle Rock is an award-winning producer and distributor of music-related content – but crucially we’re able to bring the full firepower of Universal Music UK, together with best-in-class partners, to create a unique and immersive experience that I’m confident will thrill fans and artists alike.  We couldn’t be prouder to stand alongside Island Records and Globe Productions to make this happen.”

The Earth concert is the first of a number of ticketed livestreams lined up from Eagle Rock Entertainment and Globe Productions over the next few months. Ticketmaster is a partner for this performance.

Tickets go on pre-sale from £10 at 9am on July 14 and general sale from £15 on July 16. Album and merchandise bundles will also be available, as well as an optional charity donation option to Show Racism the Red Card.
