Syco, Atlantic, Glastonbury and Spotify were among the big winners at an eventful 2017 Music Week Awards, in association with Amazon Music.
A glittering array of top executives and international talent turned out to celebrate the very best of the biz, as labels, publishers, managers, promoters, retailers and a whole host more gathered at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.The celebrations continued at Tape London, with Estrella Galicia picking up the beers for all involved as the official beer sponsor.
The fiercely contested Record Company Award (sponsored by Tape London) saw Syco Music emerge victorious, while Columbia Records scooped the coveted A&R Award (also sponsored by Tape London).
Glastonbury Festival’s Michael and Emily Eavis picked up the all-new Festival Of The Year Award (sponsored by Amazon Tickets), while Spotify received the revamped Music Retailer/Streaming Platform gong.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Records made it a whopping nine years in a row as winner of the Promotions Team Award.
The ceremony concluded with the Strat Award presentation, which went to artist manager Sarah Stennett, who received a standing ovation from all in the room. Presented with her award by Access Industries founder and owner of Warner Music Len Blavatnik, a tribute video followed featuring industry heavyweights including the likes of Sony Music Entertainment chairman Doug Morris, Sony Music UK chairman and CEO Jason Iley, pop stars Ellie Goulding and Rita Ora, Warner Music UK chairman and CEO Max Lousada and a whole host more.
