Vevo reveals upgrade plans, including new multi-user service

Vevo has announced details of two upgrades to its services, a redesigned mobile experience for iOS and the new Watch Party feature on its desktop site.

Set to launch later this month, Watch Party is a multi-screen co-viewing experience where users can invite friends, chat, and vote for videos they'd like to see.

The feature is similar to an interactive playlist, however users can watch videos in sync from different computers in different locations. Participants can also live chat. The product was developed after Vevo’s research found high desktop traffic on weekdays, with users connecting with one another around music video.

Watch Party’s key features include, In Host Mode, where one user curates the playlist for othes, and collaboration mode, where users can vote to send their favourite videos to the top of the list. Up to 100 videos can be added and there is no limit to the amount of users able to join any one ‘Watch Party’.

New Home, Vevo’s updated iOS home screen, will launch in mid-April, offering a new layout and personalisation features, artist-specific playlists and access to Vevo-curated playlists.

Earlier this week, Vevo announced plans to move its European HQ to London’s The Lighthouse building.
