Leading executives have hailed the 2017 BRITs as a great night for the industry, as surprise collaborations and emotional tributes delivered healthy ratings.

David Bowie won two posthumous awards for Blackstar, Coldplay’s Chris Martin sang George Michael’s A Different Corner and also appeared with The Chainsmokers, while Stormzy guested with Ed Sheeran.

Other winners and performers on the night included Little Mix, Katy Perry, Skepta, Rag’N’Bone Man, Emeli Sandé and The 1975. The show was watched by 5.4 million people ...
