Lockout laws lead to 40% drop in live music revenue in Sydney

Live music revenue in Sydney has fallen 40% at venues affected by the city’s lockout laws, according to figures from the Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA).

The laws were introduced in 2014 following a spate of fatal one-punch attacks. The legislation includes no shots after 10pm, no new customers after 1.30am and no alcohol served after 3am.
