Ministry Of Sound appoints new director of events and brand

Ministry Of Sound has appointed Andrew Akuffo as its new director of events and brand.

The newly created role will see partnership and marketing expert Akuffo take responsibility for driving brand equity and communicating the company’s focus on events, experiences and content.

Akuffo brings with him more than 16 years of experience in entertainment marketing. He spent almost 10 years at MTV International and three years leading global entertainment-based accounts at agency Cake London. He also worked with the likes of Kiss FM and Rinse FM, leading brand partnerships and international event activity.

“It’s an exciting time to be at Ministry of Sound,” Akuffo said. “Twenty-five years is a long time to be at the top of your game and it’s now my job to help ensure the continued success of the brand by pushing boundaries and offering our partners the best experiences and stories to tell. We will keep creating the moments that our audience truly lives for.”

Jonathan Bevan, Ministry Of Sound Group CEO, added: “Andrew is a vital addition to the Ministry Of Sound team and brings with him valuable insights and a fresh perspective from his impressive career.

“Ministry of Sound is heading into new and exciting times. In 2017 we will make significant investments in our iconic Club and will start new businesses taking the brand in a fresh direction. Expect more announcements from us soon.”

In August 2016, Sony Music Entertainment acquired Ministry of Sound Recordings. As a result, Sony Music UK acquired the label outright, including its artists, back catalogue and compilations business.
