New BBC events boss Rhys Hughes reveals live music vision

The BBC has appointed Rhys Hughes head of live music & events, popular music, Music Week can reveal.

The long-serving Radio 1 executive is now in charge of staging next year’s The Biggest Weekend across the four UK nations over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

“It’s pretty huge,” said Hughes. “Has it given me sleepless nights? Yes, it has – it’s a beast.”
