Mixmag complete purchase of Kerrang! and The Face from Bauer Media

According to Campaignlive.co.uk, Mixmag Media has completed a double acquisition of weekly rock magazine Kerrang! and The Face from Bauer Media.

The Face will be revived as a digital brand, but Mixmag Media’s Jerry Perkins’ initial focus is reported to be on Kerrang! and, in particular, its digital offering.

Speaking to Campaign, Perkins spoke of the appeal of the Kerrang! brand: “Kerrang! is a trusted brand because of the years of passion, knowledge and profound enthusiasm that have gone into producing it, week in, week out.”

In the same interview he continued to outline his plans for the brand going forward, while also suggesting that a change in the magazine’s publishing frequency may be in the pipeline and that some job positions may be affected.

"Under our ownership Kerrang! will take its rightful place at the heart of a global digital community of like-minded spirits. The platforms are there and, thanks to our recent experience with Mixmag, we know how to use them.”

Speaking about the sale, an official Bauer Media statement reads:

"We have agreed to sell Kerrang! magazine, its companion website, and the awards to Mixmag Media. Bauer retains all rights to both Kerrang! Radio and Kerrang! TV on all platforms and continues to be hugely invested in music media – be it radio, print, live events or our music TV joint venture with Channel 4. We will continue to invest in our successful magazine brands Q and MOJO, and are excited to extend the Planet Rock radio brand into print.”

Specific financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
