PRS Foundation signs up for Music Week Women In Music New Artist Award

With everyone’s favourite awards ceremony now less than a month away, Music Week Women In Music has partnered with the PRS Foundation on the prestigious New Artist Award.

The Foundation will be a category supporter for the award, which is given to an up-and-coming artist who is using their initial success to draw attention to female empowerment and equality. Previous winners include Ray Blk, who gave an inspirational speech at last year’s ceremony, and Lapsley.

“We're supporting this New Artist Award because we believe that it's essential to shine a light on the many brilliant female artists who are now breaking through & making bold, distinctive music that will contribute to the industry's future success,” said PRS Foundation CEO Vanessa Reed, herself recently acclaimed as one of the most powerful women in the music industry by Woman’s Hour. “This award celebrates the creative achievements of female artists, whilst inspiring the next generation of talented women to believe that this, and other industry awards, could go to one of them in a few years from now.”

Women In Music, produced in association with AIM, UK Music and WIN, takes place at The Brewery in London on Friday November 9.
