Alan Davey: 'It's important that you don't treat classical music as something that's fixed and dead'

Radio 3 is like one of the big national art galleries, because it has living art as well as historic art, says the station’s controller Alan Davey, “I don’t want it to be a museum station. I want it to be a living station, and the musicians are all alive as well.” Davey joined Radio 3 from his position as CEO of the Arts Council in January last year, succeeding Roger Wright, who stepped down after 15 years as controller.
