Apple’s decision to delete HMV’s new music app from its official App Store sets a worrying precedent for the openness of the iPad and iPhone platforms, according to the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA).
ERA, the trade body which represents the likes of Tesco, Amazon, Spotify, HMV and Deezer - but not Apple or iTunes - said tonight in a statement that the current dispute between HMV and iTunes highlighted “serious” competition concerns.
