Chinese authorities orders control of the amount of TV singing contests

Media authorities in China have moved to control the number of satellite television singing shows in order to combat "uniformity" on the platform.

Billboard reports that the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television published a statement explaining that it would be "controlling" the number, and airtime, of singing contest programmes to avoid "uniformity", and that it will “increase encouragement and assistance to original television programs which are closer to reality, to life and to the masses.”
