Former HMV Group COO Brian McLaughlin and one-time Universal and IFPI executive John Kennedy are among the names behind a new music-flavoured football awards event.

The pair are two of the founding partners of The Footies, an awards ceremony voted exclusively by fans and billed as the football equivalent of The Brits for music and Oscars and BAFTAs for film. It will take place in a five-star central London location in May next year.
