'I'm absolutely buzzing': Tom Walker reacts to Music Week Sync Awards win

Walker took home the Sync Artist Of The Year trophy at the Music Week Sync Awards last night, and the singer took time out on the road to reflect on his win.

"I’m absolutely buzzing to be named Sync Artist Of The Year, I am so grateful for all the opportunities and exposure that has come from all the syncs across my tunes,” said the singer, who follows in the footsteps of last year’s winner Barns Courtney.

“It’s been crazy to hear so many of them on TV shows from Love Island to dramas like Suits and Grey’s Anatomy, to Leave A Light On in the Sony Bravia commercial, which changed everything for me.”

Leave A Light On has so far peaked at No.7 in the UK and has sold 659,339 copies.

“I wrote the song about a friend of my who was struggling with addiction and mental health,” he said. “And thanks to the Sony Bravia ad allowing the song to reach so many more people globally, I’ve had thousands of messages from fans saying how much it means to them and how it has helped them through hard times.”

Walker added: “I can’t thank my team and fans enough and all the music supervisors who love music and continue to support new artists and give them a chance to get their music heard.”

Signed to Relentless Records, managed by Covert Talent and published by the Mike McCormack-led Universal Music Publishing Group UK since early 2017, Tom Walker featured in Music Week’s Class Of 2018 new music special back in January, subscribers can click here to revisit our interview.
