'It gives us a legitimacy': Team AJ Tracey on their new services company

AJ Tracey’s management team has expanded into artist and label services, Music Week can reveal.

As reported in the latest issue, Supernature has set up as a distribution and services company following the huge streaming impact of Tracey’s self-titled debut and the current hit Ladbroke Grove.

Director Andy Musgrave said their success managing the campaign for AJ Tracey – a former Music Week cover star - can help them on other projects. Ladbroke Grove was recently certified platinum, while the self-released album (distributed by ADA) has passed 80,000 sales.

“It opens doors to the people that we need to be having conversations with at the DSPs,” said Musgrave. “Our bigger projects actually benefit the smaller projects, it gives us a legitimacy.”

It's genuinely an alternative to finding a record deal

Supernature offers rights retention and short licensing terms, while providing financing and dedicated support.

“It's genuinely an alternative to finding a record deal,” said Musgrave. “Because while we don't intend to lock people into exclusive deals, we do want to work with artists that we think we can create a long term relationship with.”

As well as its management clients (AJ Tracey, Conducta, Mind Of A Dragon, Misogi, Murlo, Sega Bodega), Supernature is working on artist services for Brooke Candy and the Nuxxe label, Gloo, Shygirl, Coucou Chloe and Jaxxon D Silva.

Brooke Candy’s upcoming debut features Charli XCX and Iggy Azalea.

“It’s a pretty big one for us, that's going to do tens of millions of streams,” said Musgrave.
