Warner Music Group (WMG) has appointed Mateusz Smółka to the newly created role of MD, Warner Music Eastern Europe.
Smółka, who joins following an eight-year tenure at Spotify, will oversee WMG’s operations across key markets, including Poland, the Czech Republic, South Eastern Europe and Ukraine.
Smółka will be responsible for driving the major's strategic expansion across the region while expanding its full-service capabilities across talent development, distribution and strategic M&A.
He brings more than two decades of experience across music, media and technology, having led Spotify's editorial and artist & label partnership teams across 10 Eastern European markets. He began his career as a journalist before advancing into advisory and leadership roles across the music industry.

Based in Warsaw, Poland, Smółka will report to Simon Robson, president, EMEA, Warner Music.
