Bob Dylan musical gets West End transfer

Girl From The North Country, the musical based on music and lyrics by Bob Dylan, is to open in the West End.

Written and Directed by Conor McPherson, the production at the Old Vic has been a critical and commercial success. Opening in July, the show’s original London run finishes on October 7.

Girl From The North Country will open at the Noël Coward Theatre for previews from December 29 and run until March 31, 2018.

Set in Minnesota in 1934, the musical incorporates the Dylan songbook into a show “full of hope, heartbreak and soul”.

Conor McPherson said: “Working with this stunning cast and the incredible music of Bob Dylan at The Old Vic has been an amazing pleasure and privilege. I’m delighted that audiences will continue to have the opportunity to enjoy our show as we move into the West End. I’d like to thank everyone who has brought Girl from the North Country to life and I look forward hugely to our next steps in this intriguing journey."

Sony Music released the official cast recording of Girl From The Country last week (September 29).
