Deezer reaches 5m paying subscribers


Streaming service Deezer has more than doubled its paying subscriber count in the past year having announced the 5 million milestone today (November 6).

Launched worldwide in 2011, the French company had 2 million paying subscribers in October 2012 after receiving $130m worth of investment from Access Industries.

Deezer's nearest competitor Spotify's last official paying subscriber figure stood at 6m.

Spotify is available in the US, while Deezer is yet to step into the territory. However, Music Week understands ...
