Midweek Charts: Queens of Stone Age lift Matador to new chart heights

Beggars-affiliated indie label Matador is heading for its highest-charting album yet in the UK as Queens Of The Stone Age challenge to reach No 1.

Until now the label, which started in New York City in 1989 and has been co-owned by Beggars since 2002, has only risen as high as No 21 on the UK artist albums chart, achieved by Interpol's Antics in 2004.
