PRS For Music appoints Nigel Hall COO

PRS for Music has hired Nigel Hall as its new chief operating officer with immediate effect.

Hall was formerly managing director at KPMG UK, where he handled a number of technology, media and telecoms accounts. At KPMG, he built on more than 20 years of experience including the launch of Orange internationally and founding his own company, Interim-Consulting Ltd, to focus on start-ups.

In 2016, PRS for Music processed 4.3 trillion lines of data, as a result of streaming bringing about the return of global growth in music consumption.

Hall’s background in digital growth will assist PRS in its own technological development, as the collecting society continues to handle vast increases in data each year.

Robert Ashcroft, chief executive, PRS for Music, said: “PRS for Music celebrated a record-breaking year in 2016, in no small part thanks to our investments in technology and data, which are becoming ever more integral to the music business. It is therefore my pleasure to welcome Nigel to PRS for Music. We look forward to having his digital expertise on hand to steer us through a time of continuing growth and transformation, not just for us, but for the industry as a whole.”

Nigel Hall added: “Having worked with household names like Orange and O2 in the telecoms sector, I am delighted to be joining an organisation that champions the rights of some of the biggest names in music. These are incredibly exciting times for the industry, not least for our members, and I am looking forward to helping PRS for Music continue to lead in its field.”

Hall replaces Craig Nunn, who departed PRS for Music in July 2017 after six years with the company.
