There was lots of hype around you last year, how has your industry experience been up to now?

“I feel like I know a lot about the industry now and the experience has been both great and useful. Everything so far has been really informative and memorable, but I’ve also learned that news spreads very fast! Also, I would definitely say that being a musician is a lot more work than it seems!”

Nature inspired your name and your music. What draws you to it the most?

“I’m strongly impacted by nature and I feel that all beings have a connection to it. Whenever I need to feel inspired, I take long walks and immerse myself in nature, it helps me to reconnect with life. I love writing about my experiences, but I feel most connected to music through nature, it just makes me feel better. On my last EP, A Mosh Pit In The Clouds, I was inspired by the mystery of not knowing what clouds feel like.”

I think a really jittery pre-chorus is the key to a good pop song

You started out making music at home and you make a lot of it with your brother. How does that level of closeness inform what you do?

“It’s great working with my brother because at the end of the day you know it’s a trusting environment for creativity, it’s a safe space. A family member always wants the best for you and the music that will be made in such a space will be fuelled by love. It’s about creating memories as well, a piece of work we can look back on in the future. My overall vision for my work is to show that people can love themselves and be whatever they want.”

Given that your work is so full of big pop hooks, what does it take to make the perfect pop song?

“Oh my goodness, I love this question! I think a really jittery pre-chorus is the key to a good pop song. One that gets you hyped and ready for the chorus. A hook in the pre-chorus is also important, it’s about getting people drawn in at every opportunity! I’ve been listening to Made You Look by Meghan Trainor a lot recently and I think that’s a great example of a perfect pop song.”
