Stapleton will take charge of label relations account activity across Seattle, Nashville, Los Angeles, and in New York, where he will be based. He reports to Ryan Redington, director of Amazon Music.
His appointment comes as Amazon is seeing streaming growth from its market-leading Echo voice control devices for both its Unlimited subscription service and Amazon Prime Music.
During his 12 years at Sony, Stapleton served in various roles including his most recent position as SVP, digital partner development, where he oversaw account management for Sony’s largest global digital distribution partners.
Stapleton also served in various positions in both London and New York, including SVP of digital business development & strategy and senior director of international digital business development.
Prior to Sony Music, he worked as a management consultant at Accenture in London. He studied music management at City University, London.
