David Byrne’s Who Is The Sky? world tour is coming to the big screen, with a concert film shot over multiple nights at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, US.
Byrne's Who Is The Sky? album (Matador) was released earlier this chart and charted in the UK Top 40.
The film, which was captured on 70mm by The Brutalist director Brady Corbet, is now in post-production, with distribution and release details to be confirmed.
The announcement comes ahead of the 2025/26 run's closing dates, including a double-header at the Hollywood Bowl in LA this weekend, a run in Mexico City, and the tour finale at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York on September 19.
Byrne's seminal 1984 Talking Heads film Stop Making Sense introduced itself to a new generation through a 2023 theatrical re-release, while 2020's Spike Lee-directed David Byrne's American Utopia won two Emmy Awards.
“When Brady told me he wanted to shoot our show in 70 millimetre (70 millimetre!) I didn't realise what a difference it would make until I saw some frames he sent me,” said Byrne. “He was right, it really does capture the wide screen visual scope of the show. I've never seen anything like it.”

The acclaimed Who Is The Sky? tour is built around an ensemble of 13 musicians, singers and dancers in constant motion across the stage. Blending visual art, storytelling and music cut into a single performance, the show has travelled across North America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Asia, spanning more than 150 dates, since launching in September 2025.

The film is produced by The Deep End Films and Pre-Code, Corbet’s company along with Mona Fastvold, and is presented by River Road Entertainment.
Global distribution rights are being handled by Byrne's motion picture agents at The Gersh Agency together with The Deep End.
