Charity initiative Metal For Nepal has launched an emergency fundraising appeal following the deadly flash floods that struck Nepal's Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.
The floods hit on Wednesday (August 26), displacing families and damaging infrastructure.
In its latest update, Nepal Police said that 547 people are confirmed to have died so far, with a further 1,473 injured, according to the BBC.
Villages and settlements along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers have reportedly been washed away or badly damaged, including in the Timure and Syabrubesi areas of Rasuwa.
Six major hydropower and transmission facilities were also damaged, knocking an estimated 430 MW of power offline – about one-eighth of Nepal's installed capacity.

Metal For Nepal is mobilising to support affected communities, working through its established network of local NGO partners on the ground to deliver relief "as quickly and effectively as possible" – from emergency supplies and clean water to longer-term rebuilding support.
"We need to come together exactly like we did after the 2015 earthquake," said director Flower KC. "The heavy metal and tattoo community has always shown up for people in need, and this moment is no different. Every donation goes straight toward getting families and children the support they need right now."

Metal For Nepal was founded in 2015 by Nepal metal band Underside after Nepal was struck by two earthquakes. With support from the No Silence for Nepal Association and the global metal community, the non-profit organisation was able to build more than 300 homes in the district of Gorkha.
