Coldplay debut at one on Billboard chart
Wednesday, Jun 15th 2005 at 5:53PMColdplay kick off their world tour in Hamburg tonight on the same day X&Y officially debuts at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart with almost 750,000 sales.
As expected, the band have become the first British act to achieve simultaneous first week number ones on each side of the Atlantic since The Beatles managed it with 1 in November 2000. The last British band to manage the same feat was Radiohead with Kid A in the previous month.
